VESA norm – What does the standard mean?

The abbreviation VESA stands for Video Electronics Standards Association. The VESA Flat Display Mounting Interface (FDMI) is a standard for attaching flat panel displays / LCD / monitors / televisions to monitor mounts. Three common VESA classifications have been defined: VESA MIS-D, VESA MIS-E and VESA MIS-F. The VESA logo indicates thate the screen is compatible with a VESA standard.

Depending on the size and weight of the screen at least four threaded holes are defined. With the VESA standard you can attach your monitor to a monitor bracket on the wall, table or ceiling. The condition is that both (the monitor and the monitor mount) have the same VESA standard / norm. You do not know which VESA you have? Find it out!
